KPL is hosting an art and writing contest as our part in the community's BIG READ, where one community is encouraged to read the same book at the same time. (The book is The Adventures of Tom Sawyer.) Age groups are: 11-13, 14-17 and 18+. Art includes drawing or painting. Writing includes an essay, short story, short play or poem. Art and writing must pertain to/be inspired by Tom Sawyer, Mark Twain or the world of Mark Twain. More details....

to download the ereader to a PC NetBook, Laptop and Desktop. This will allow you to read TumbleBooks, Read-alongs, Chapter books, novels, audio books and play Flash Games offline. KPL is a beta test site for this - hoping to make our entire Tumblebooks collection (see homepage on left side) available to download. MAC version will come out in December. Come to the Kingsport Public Library and read to one of our wonderful Certified Therapy Dogs. Reading sessions are one-on-one with the dog (the trainer is also present) and last 15 minutes. Times are available during the day, evening and weekends. Pre-registration is strongly recommended because doggie spots are limited.
