Colonial Garden Club Scrapbook, 1957-1961

ABSTRACT:
Colonial Garden Club Scrapbook contains photographs and newspaper clippings which depict the Club’s activities and members.  The Club was organized in 1957.  At that time Colonial Heights had four other garden clubs which had large memberships, so a fifth one was needed.  The Colonial Garden Club started up with twenty-five members.  Presiding over the Club was Mrs. Mack Slaughter.

HISTORICAL NOTE:
The Club historian was Doris Jean Cox, a Kingsport native and Dobyns-Bennett graduate.  She was also the first deaf person to graduate from East Tennessee State University.
