Community Drug Awareness Week Documents, September 21- 24, 1982

KC Manuscript Collection 141

ABSTRACT:
The Kingsport Community Drug Awareness Week Collection consists of two documents from September 1982.  The first document is a proclamation by C.N. Spencer, Mayor of Kingsport, Tennessee, declaring 3-10 October 1982 as Community Drug Awareness Week.  The second document is a letter from Nancy Reagan written to Mrs. George Chandler.  In the one-page letter, Reagan voices support for Kingsport’s efforts to help youth avoid drugs while regretting that she could not visit the city in person.
