In late 1993, a group of local women made plans to establish the First Frontier Quilt Guild of Kingsport, Tennessee. The First Frontier Quilt Guild is an educational and charitable organization that serves to preserve and promote the art of quilt making as well as educate the non-quilting public.
The guild’s first public project was to design and piece a quilt for Kingsport’s Tennessee 200 Project. The quilt currently hangs in the Kingsport Public Library on permanent display.
SCOPE AND CONTENT
The collection consists of one framed quilt on permanent display at the Kingsport Public Library. The collection also contains one folder of materials that details the designing and construction of the “Tennessee 200” quilt. Included is a detailed listing of who worked on the quilt and information on individual blocks within the quilt.
