Frances Nelle Nelms Scrapbook, 1917-1918

KC Manuscript Collection 238

ABSTRACT:
The Frances Nelle Nelms Scrapbook depicts the people of the 1910s through various magazine photographs and magazine illustrations.  Nelms appears to have had an interest in fashion as well as the people of her time.  The bulk of illustrations and photographs are of soldiers, children, wives, and make-up and fashion models.  The few advertisements in the collection include ads for war bonds and the Red Cross; there are also several cartoons, magazine articles, and a few Kingsport newspaper articles.  Very little of the collection actually deals with Kingsport.  Illustrations and photographs appear to be published in countrywide magazines.
