Geraldine “Gerri” Byrd Collection, 1943-2004

ABSTRACT:
The Gerri “Seaver” Byrd collection consists of a variety of materials compiled by Gerri Byrd.  The earliest records relate to Byrd’s church activities followed by materials concerning her primary and secondary education in Kingsport’s city schools.  Aside from personal materials reflecting Byrd’s life, there are a number of clippings, publications, and memorabilia items related to Kingsport’s history, schools, and businesses.  Materials on the Eastman Kodak Company explosion from 1960 include some shots of smoke along with other publications and clippings.
