Holston Ordinance Works Personnel Records, May 29, 1942-unknown

KC Manuscript Collection 84

ABSTRACT:
The Holston Ordinance Works Personnel Records consists of the names, addresses, social security numbers, badge numbers, starting dates, and wage rates for some of the men and women that worked at the Works starting in May 1942.  These employees worked for the Charles T. Main architectural firm based in Massachusetts.  People listed in this collection have addresses from around the United States but a large percentage lived in and around Kingsport, Tennessee. The document is printed on legal sized paper but half of the record is missing because the item was cut in half length wise. As a result, some details are unavailable. The Works was designed and operated under government contract from 1941-1945 for the manufacture of RDX explosive during World War II.
