Jack Huntoon Correspondence, 1946

KC Manuscript Collection 162

ABSTRACT:
The collection consists of correspondence between Kingsport Junior Chamber of Commerce president Jack Huntoon and Kingsport Merchants Association, Incorporated and between Huntoon and Kingsport Development Commission, Inc.  The correspondence pertains to various civic improvement programs that were suggested by “a cross-section of the people of Kingsport.”  Some of the suggestions were in the process of being implemented, for example, a campaign to “clean up” and “paint up” Kingsport.  Others suggestions had already been or would soon be addressed, such as the need for a library and a new City Hall.
