Lee Family Literacy Program Records, 1988-1995

KC Manuscript Collection 135

ABSTRACT:
The collection contains materials produced by the Lee Family Literacy Program in Kingsport, Tennessee.  The program was started in 1993 to foster literacy in under-educated families living in area public housing and low income communities.  It was the result of collaboration between the Kingsport Housing Authority, the Kingsport Literacy Council, and the Kingsport Public Library.  Board meeting minutes, correspondence, and financial information are included in the collection. Financial materials pre-dating 1993, including information on tax exemption and a copy of a State of Tennessee Department of Revenue tax exemption form belonged to the Literacy Council of Kingsport.
