ABSTRACT:
The Maces Springs School Elementary Grade Books collection consists of four grade books produced between 1936 and 1947.  Dates are inclusive.  These records detail the attendance and grades of students.  Children recorded in these books were mostly between the ages of five through eleven.  In one book, the parents of students are noted along with their occupations.  Two of the more well-known students are June and Anita Carter.  June Carter later married Johnny Cash and became June Carter Cash.  The book documenting 1946-47 includes materials by the (unknown) teacher regarding her lesson plans, drawings, and teaching philosophy along with a register of money paid out and received.
