Report on Kingsport Sanitation and Biography of Dr. T.B. Yancey, 1922 and c. 1950s

KM Manuscript Collection 32

ABSTRACT:
The collection contains an account submitted by Dr. T.B. Yancey of the City Health Department on the history of sanitation in Kingsport, 1917-1921.  The report was bleak at first: disease and death resulting from poor sanitation were rampant from 1917-1919 but the situation began to ameliorate with the appointment of Dr. Yancey as City Health Officer and was much improved by 1921.  A copy of the report was enclosed in a short letter from Dr. Yancey to Perley S. Wilcox.  This letter and a biography of Dr. Yancey are also included in the collection.
