BIOGRAPHICAL/HISTORICAL NOTE

The Sevier Terrace Recreation Center was a community pool, tennis courts, play field and picnic pavilion located north of Stone Drive off of Fairview Av. in Kingsport. Numerous fundraisers held by the neighborhood association in the 1990s attempted to raise money to cover significant repairs, delayed loan payments, and to make up for dwindling membership, but the center went several summers without the funds to open and finally closed in 2012.

SCOPE AND CONTENT

The Sevier Terrace Recreation Center Records demonstrate the yearly challenges of operating a community pool. The files are made of correspondence between the board and the membership, annual financial statements, ground rules and by-laws, legal documents, board minutes. One CD of photographs is also included in the collection.

The records are arranged in alphabetical order without series. Folders maintain their original titles whenever possible. Board minutes are arranged chronologically. Banking, maintenance, membership, and employee records were removed from the collection.
