HISTORICAL NOTE

Rhoda Emma Taylor, daughter of Emma Haynes and Nathaniel Green Taylor, was born March 28, 1855. Her father was a farmer, Methodist minister, twice First District U.S. representative, and commissioner of Indian Affairs under Andrew Johnson. Her brother Alf Taylor entered politics as a Republican, while her other brother, Robert L. Taylor, joined the Democrats.

Rhoda Emma Taylor-Reeves died November 23, 1943.

The collection contains a copy of the journal of Rhoda Emma Taylor-Reeves. The journal contains writings, clippings and pictures. The copy of the journal was compiled by Ray and Mary Helen Willis.
