SCOPE AND CONTENT

The collection contains information about Tennessee’s Bicentennial that took place in 1996. Tony Galloway, history teacher at Dobyns-Bennett High School, was chair of the Bicentennial Committee. The collection contains meeting minutes, agendas and memos from the Kingsport City School Bicentennial Committee, the Dobyns-Bennett Bicentennial Committee and the Tennessee 200 Committee. The collection also contains information on the various events that occurred citywide and across the state in celebration of the Bicentennial. Included is information on time capsule activities, audiocassettes of the kick off rally and photographs of the Appalachian Heritage Day and the kick off rally.
