SCOPE AND CONTENT

The collection contains correspondence and other documents from Stephen Brutus Fleming Dobyns (S.F. Dobyns). Dobyns, born in 1892 came to Kingsport with his parents, James Wiley Dobyns (J.W. Dobyns) and Lula Lee Cooper. J.W. Dobyns was the first mayor of Kingsport. He married Johnnie Evans on 12 March 1936, in Orleans, Louisiana, United States. He died on November 6, 1980, in Kingsport, Tennessee, United States, at the age of 88, and was buried in Oak Hill Cemetery, Kingsport, Tennessee.
