BIOGRAPHICAL/HISTORICAL NOTE

 As noted on the title page of Family History, “The Bralley Family originated in Northern Ireland in Londonderry. They settled permanently in Wytheville County, Virginia, in 1769, after a stay in Chester County, Pennsylvania and Cecil County, Maryland. In 1905, John Sanders Bralley brought his family to Kingsport, Tennessee, on the promise of a boom town being established there by his cousin George L. Carter.”

 

SCOPE AND CONTENT

 The Bralley Family collection consists of photographs; certificates, both military and scholastic; original and photocopied documents of birth, death, and marriage; written narrative; mementos; programs; newspaper clippings; and extensive genealogical information.

ARRANGEMENT

The collection is arranged in three boxes. The first box is mainly photographs of family members and Kingsport and a few keepsakes. The folders are arranged alphabetically. Boxes 2 and 3 contain one large album, divided, of family history. It is in the creator’s original order.
