SCOPE AND CONTENT

The collection contains the October 1829 edition of The Calvinistic Magazine. The magazine was edited by James Gallaher, Frederick A. Ross and David Nelson. Reverend Frederick A. Ross built the RotherwoodMansion on Netherland Road and was responsible for building the first bridge (1818) over the North Fork of the HolstonRiver. Reverend Ross was ordained as a Presbyterian minister in 1825 and served the Boatyard Presbyterian Church as minister for twenty five years.
