Biographical/Historical Note

The Kingsport Silk Mill began operation in Kingsport in the late 1920s. The name was eventually changed to the Smoky Mountain Hosiery Mill. Paul J. Greene’s aunt, Pauline “Polly” Woods Horner was an employee of the mill and is in the photograph.

SCOPE AND CONTENT

The collection contains one framed panoramic photograph of the Kingsport Silk Mills taken in May 1935. The frame was handmade by Paul J. Greene.
