Provenance: The Nancy Necessary Pridemore Collection was donated to the Archives of the City of Kingsport by Nancy Necessary Pridemore in 1995. Additions to the collection were made by Judy Womack and Verna Ruth Abbott in 1996.

SCOPE AND CONTENT
This collection consists of 5 series. The series include subject files, play scripts, audio recordings, scrapbooks, and plaques from performances of the Dobyns-Bennett High School Speech and Drama Department. The 4th series includes material preserved by Nancy Necessary Pridemore, former head of the Speech and Drama department. This series is comprised of two scrapbooks, 1949-1968 and 1965-1978, each with photographs and news clippings on the activities of the department. Mrs. Pridemore led the department for 39 years, from 1946 to 1985.

Series I, Subject Files, c. 1951-1986 and undated, Folder 1 and Box 1
Series I contains subject files including pictures from various plays, books, and playbills. Files are arranged alphabetically by subject.
Series II, Play Scripts, undated, Box 2 – Box 4
Series II contains play scripts used by the Dobyns-Bennett High School Theatre Department. The scripts are arranged alphabetically by title.
Series III, Audio Recordings, c. 1965-1971 and undated, Box 5
Series III consists of audio tapes and records, which are arranged by size then alphabetically.
Series IV, Scrapbooks, c. 1949-1993 and undated, Box 6 and Box 7
Series IV contains scrapbooks created by Nancy Necessary Pridemore as well as loose materials that she collected over the years. The scrapbooks contain photos and newsclippings, and playbills are also included. Scrapbooks are arranged by date.
Series V, Plaques, c. 1948-1986, Box 8
Series V consists of plaques and trophies won by students in the Dobyns-Bennett High School Speech and Theatre program. Also included is a framed article from 1966. This series is arranged by size and date.
