In 2021, everyone read over 37,000 minutes during the month of October. This year you obliterated that total with 73,100 minutes (50.76 days!) of reading!

We will once again be using Beanstack as our reading log platform. There will be a link to Beanstack on our website that will direct you on how to log points. You will have the chance to earn reading badges and each badge earns your team extra points.
Decide if you want to be a Goblin, Zombie, Vampire, or Werewolf, and gain points for your team to win the Creature’s Goblet. Every minute you log reading is 1 Pt. Team Captains will issue pop up challenges for readers to gain extra points and prizes.

Enter your pet in our Howl-oween costume contest! Just send individual pictures of your pet to email@example.com All entries must be submitted by October 19th and voting will be from October 24th to October 29th. Winners will be announced on October 31st.
Week 1 (10 points):
Goblins: Find a rock in the library.
Vampire: Watch a movie / tv show featuring a vampire.
Werewolves: Watch a movie / tv show featuring a werewolf.
Zombies: Watch a scary / Halloween themed movie or tv show.
Week 2 (25 points):
Goblins: Read a book with a goblin.
Vampire: Read a book about bats.
Werewolves: Read a book about the moon.
Zombies: Read a scary/Halloween story. It can be a picture book, short story, poem, or graphic novel.
Week 3 (50 points):
Goblins: Play hide and seek.
Vampire: Find an anatomically incorrect decor skeleton.
Werewolves: Find a picture of a wolf in the library.
Zombies: Do your best zombie impression!
Week 4 (Prize Pack):
Goblins: Take a picture of your favorite sparkly or shiny thing.
Vampire: Play a scary/Halloween themed game. It can be a table top game, video game, etc.
Werewolves: Picture of a dog or a moon.
Zombies: Eat a Halloween or fall treat.
Tuesday, September 27th @ 6:00 pm – Hocus Pocus Trivia
‘Tis Time! The Sanderson sisters are back! Come test your knowledge and enjoy a fun night of trivia at the library!
Tuesday, October 4th @ 6:00 pm – Cryptid Taxidermy
Join us to make a faux taxidermy likeness of your favorite cryptid or create one of your own design. This event is for Teens and Adults. Registration not required, but the class will be limited to 12 attendees.
Thursday, October 6th @ 4:00 pm – Haunted Fairy Gardens
Join us to create your own little haunted fairy terrarium as part of Haunted Happenings at the library! All supplies will be provided. This event is for 6th-12th graders.
Monday, October 10th @ 6:00 pm – Haunted Tri-Cities
Come join Paranormal Technology Investigations at the Kingsport Public Library on October 10th at 6:00 pm to hear spooky stories about haunted places in our region! PTI will share their findings of haunted houses in the region, and you’ll have an opportunity to ask questions.
Tuesday, October 11th @ 5:00 pm – Bingo for Books
Do you enjoy playing bingo? Join us for a fun night of spooky bingo! If you win, you’ll receive a small prize and a free book!
This is a Family Friendly event!
Thursday, October 13th All Day – Halloween Card Take ‘N Make
Let’s Get Crafting! Pick up a Halloween Card Making Kit at the Kingsport Public Library starting October 13th! Make your card at home and then send your spooky creation to friends or family! Available while supplies last!
Thursday, October 13th @ 12:00 pm – Craft & Chat: Mini Wreaths
Join us for a craft and chat as we make Halloween themed mini wreaths! You don’t have to bring anything, we will provide all the supplies!
This craft will be available while supplies last.
Thursday, October 13th @ 4:00 pm – Sew With Me: Bats
Teens, grades 6th-12th, are invited to join us to sew felt bats.
All supplies provided. Limited to 10 participants.
Saturday, October 15th @ 3:00 pm – Potions & Succulents
Join us in making color changing potions and planting succulents in fun Halloween planters. This event is appropriate for Adults and Teens. Everything will be provided while supplies last.
Saturday, October 22nd All Day – Haunted RPG
Come join us for a day of haunted gaming. We’ll have table top card games and board games as well as a game of Call of Cthulu for those interested in a table top RPG session. Snacks and drinks will be provided. Feel free to bring friends and additional snacks.
Thursday, October 27th @ 4:00 pm – Teen Boo Bash
Join us for the Teen Finale of Haunted Happenings at the Boo Bash! We will decorate mugs and paint rocks, plus have a costume contest! Snacks and drinks will be provided.
This event is for 6th-12th graders.
Saturday, October 29th @ 12:00 pm – Craft ‘N Treats
Kingsport Public Library will be joining the festivities at the Downtown Kingsport Trick or Treat on the Street on October 29th from 12:00 – 2:00 pm. We will be at Glenn Bruce Park handing out candy and having crafts available for all ages from preschool to adult!
