Frank K Jones Collection, c.1930s

KC Manuscript Collection 224
ABSTRACT:
The Frank K.  Jones Collection consists of two photographic negatives taken during the 1930s.  One image shows the collapsed Rotherwood Bridge that crossed the Holston River North Fork and connected Hawkins and Sullivan counties.  The bridge collapsed on Friday, 5 June 1936.  Jones traveled from his home in Kingsport following the collapse to photograph the damage.  Jones’s second image shows a group of boys on a camping trip.  The youths might be Boy Scouts since Jones’s father was a scout leader.
