BIOGRAPHICAL/HISTORICAL NOTE

The Voguette’s Social Sewing Club began in November 1951 with eight women. In 1965, the club sponsored the first Debutante Cotillion to “encourage finer womanhood.” The event presented 16 girls from Douglass and GateCityHigh Schools.

 

SCOPE AND CONTENT

The collection contains one program from the September 4, 1965 Debutante Cotillion. The program contains a history of the club, a list of members, names of parents and their escorts, and a picture of the debutantes.
