Collapsed Rotherwood Bridge
The image shows the collapsed Rotherwood Bridge that crossed the Holston River North Fork and connected Hawkins and Sullivan counties. The structure collapsed on Friday, June 5, 1936. Although the entire western portion of the bridge crumbled, there were no fatalities. Following the accident, traffic was detoured through Weber City, a nine-mile detour.
